Saturday was my birthday, but I had agreed to go to a high school in Woodland Hills for a literacy day so off I went with Mary Hershey and Greg Trine, my two good buddies, for the worst event in history. No kids showed up (or few) and no books were sold. Plus I got a real pooper of a cold AND two rejections via email.
But here's the good part: I am taking it all in stride. If this is what it means to be this age, I'll take it.

Happy Belated Birthday! I'm sorry that your special day was spent with such an ungrateful lot in Woodland Hills. But looking on the bright side...the rest of the year has to be an improvement!

Hope this helps. Maggie
Sorry you had such a bummer birthday! But, like Maggie said, there's always a bright side. And you've got to be looking forward to the retreat in September! How cool is that? Gwen and I will be there! Yay!
Hi, Valerie. I've enjoyed reading your books. Good work! I write mostly middle grade or YA, too. After I read Sonny's War, I became curious about your other books, so I will be reading more of your words.
Happy Belated Birthday. And I'm with you--aging does have its perks. I'm turnign 62 in a couple of months, and I don't get nearly as upset about things as I used to. It's nice to be this way.
Happy Belated Birthday! You're doing a wonderful job being RESILIENT (my word of the year) and it will all pay off.
Thanks for the good wishes. I've recovered from the cold and from the age shock and am once again bouncing along.
